Adora is the tenth and last client through the door. Her 7 commission budgets, the Quality 95 coronation dress, and the Cheerful Frog ceiling trap.
Adora dressmaker guide: who she is and how to pass her commissions
Adora Thimblethread is the last of the ten named clients to walk through your shop door, and by a wide margin the most expensive one to work for. Her seven commission cards run from a 1000-coin sports day dress to Crowning Glory, which carries a 5000-coin budget and a Quality 95 threshold, the highest budget and the highest quality bar on any card in the game. She is a newcomer who calls herself Addy, trained in archery, running, weightlifting, fencing and swimming, and her standing style tags are Formal 80 and Elaborate 80. Her cards add up to 13,500 coins, roughly 1.7 times the next richest line, so if you are planning a run around money Adora is the endgame payout.
- She is client ten of ten, with seven cards, and her storyline is the only one that ends at a coronation.
- Crowning Glory at 5000 coins with Quality 95 is the single hardest commission in Dressmaker.
- Cheerful Frog is a ceiling card, not a floor card: Cute has to stay at 25 or below.
- Formal 80 and Elaborate 80 appear on her cards, but so do Playful 50 and a cotton-only sports rule.

Who Adora is and when she shows up
Her opening line tells you what kind of client she is. She asks whether every commission in the shop lands on your shoulders, then describes it in detail: it is not a constant crushing pressure on your lungs, a tension haunting every moment of every day. You agree hypothetically. She answers, hypothetically, that is.
She is the final client in the arrival order, arriving right after Dorothy mentions that Princess Sophie has vanished from the castle. That ordering comes from fan wiki story recaps rather than official text, so treat it as Community-observed; it may change with game updates. Her name, her seven commissions, her budgets and her tag requirements are not in that category.

Official source: Dressmaker on Steam and Dressmaker achievements on Steam — the store page confirms developer Cozy Lives and the four style registers the whole town requests from, while the achievements list prints a Go Off, Queen! line for completing all of Adora's major commissions, one per named client across 32 total. That page showed a 1.7% live unlock rate on September 30, 2026.
A 1.7% unlock rate is a planning number, not a difficulty rating. Only one player review in a 1000-review sample named Adora at all, against eight for Prudence and seven for Alice. That single review still shows the intended feel: the most realistic part was giving the cheap clients the cheapest material for more money, and giving the most babygirl bonita gorgeous dress that ever existed to Adora only.
Her seven commissions, budget by budget
| Commission | Budget | Hard rule on the card | Occasion |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sporting Chance | 1000 | Cotton at least 60% of the dress | Sports day |
| Secret Art Critic | 1500 | No colour rule recorded | Priya's exhibition opening |
| Proper Lady | 1000 | No colour rule recorded | Dressing like a lady |
| Cheerful Frog | 1000 | Green at least 60%, and Cute at 25 or below | Comfort commission |
| Crowning Glory | 5000 | Yellow 25, White 25, 10 cm trim, 10 cm lace, Quality 95 | Royal coronation |
| Daring Heist | 2000 | Sequin 25% plus at least 3 different colours | Palace heist, spoilers |
| Moonlight Wanderer | 2000 | White and grey only | Night walk, spoilers |
The Quality requirement across her cards sits in the 75 to 95 band; the only card where the exact number is pinned is Crowning Glory at 95. Two of these, Daring Heist and Moonlight Wanderer, are flagged as story spoilers.
Two rules invert the habit the game teaches you. Sporting Chance demands at least 60% cotton from a woman whose standing tags are Formal 80 and Glamour 50, and Moonlight Wanderer locks you to white and grey. Cheerful Frog is the sharper inversion: it asks for green coverage, then punishes you for making the dress charming.> [!warning] Cheerful Frog punishes a good dress
The card caps Cute at 25. Build the prettiest green dress you can and it fails on a tag you never saw listed as a floor. This is the ceiling-card mechanic that also catches players on Prudence's Not Haughty. Delightful, decorated, adorable: all wrong here.
What she asks for, and what she will not accept
Her tag profile is unusually wide for a late client, and that is the trap in the middle of her line rather than at the ends. A player keeping one house style for every client will get the two 80s right and then stall on the sporty, simple, cotton-heavy requests of her first card.
| Tag | Level | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Formal | 80 | Her hardest recurring ask, on three cards |
| Elaborate | 80 | Pairs with Formal on the same cards |
| Romantic, Eveningwear | 60 | Her most reliable mid-range tags |
| Playful, Daywear, Elegant, Glamour, Warm | 50 | Standard floors across several cards |
| Simple | 40 | Lowest floor she asks for |
The material rules are where the fabric wall matters. Sporting Chance and Cheerful Frog are single-bolt demands, cotton and green, both wanting 60% coverage rather than an accent. Daring Heist wants sequins at 25% plus at least three distinct colours. Crowning Glory wants yellow at 25 and white at 25 in one garment plus 10 cm of trim and 10 cm of lace, a two-colour build with real notions rather than a single bolt with a pattern.
How to pass her commissions for real
Dressmaker does not score dresses on one number. Each garment is graded against attribute tags that sit on the fabric, the notions and the pattern pieces you picked, so a card is satisfied by a combination rather than one lucky bolt. A commission card is a budget, minimum tag thresholds, and extra hard requirements such as a minimum colour count. The four style registers the whole town requests from are professional, gothic, warm and playful, which is why even her sports day card skews formal.
Ringing the bell is your queue control. You must ring the bell to summon the next customer, and the build 403 patch notes made that explicit. If the fabric wall is empty, refusing the bell is a legitimate move rather than a grind.
Acceptance is the payment trigger. The same notes fixed failed commissions not giving money: if the character accepts the commission, you should be paid. A rejected Adora dress is pure material cost, which is what makes Cheerful Frog's ceiling rule expensive.
Decorations usually do not score, but sometimes the card demands them. Lace, edging, buttons and gems are cosmetic by default. Crowning Glory is the card-specific exception: it requires 10 cm of trim and 10 cm of lace, so there the notions are not decoration, they are the requirement.
The Adora commission notes carry a specific rescue: if you are a few points short, sell the dress, start it again, and re-check her measurements first. Measurement data is stored per client and drives both the dress form and the flat pattern, so a body that is off changes the geometry of the piece you cut.
The two traps: one ceiling card, one endurance card
Dressmaker has a small family of commission cards where a high score is a failure, and Adora owns one of them.
| Client | Card | Ceiling to stay under |
|---|---|---|
| Adora | Cheerful Frog | Cute at 25 or below |
| Prudence | Not Haughty | Quality 70, printed on neither the card nor the panel |
| Rose | Chilly Overtime | Cute 20 and Romantic 20 |
| Rose | Tomb Raider | Elaborate 5 |
| Marie | Goat Mediation | Formal 40 |
| Priya | Maid of Honour | Playful 25 |
That list is Community-observed; it may change with game updates. It comes from fan wiki mission notes plus a player-tested report on Prudence's hidden cap, where a 62-point dress passed and a 97-point dress failed. The mechanic itself is confirmed: some orders require an attribute to stay under a value.
The other Adora trap is endurance rather than reversal. Crowning Glory asks for Quality 95 on a 5000-coin budget, the hardest single card in the game by both measures, on a client who is meant to be your reward for surviving the first nine.
Where Adora fits in the wider story
Her storyline runs from the sports day to the coronation to a palace break-in, and it pulls the other clients together rather than running beside them. She trains in five disciplines and says so, which is why the sports day card judges cotton. She then turns up uninvited at Priya's exhibition as a secret critic, wants to dress like a proper lady in the register Prudence uses, attends the coronation, breaks into the palace, and ends up watching the stars.
The gossip tabloid Spilt Tea tracks her too, and its sports day edition records that she beat Prudence while the same issue writes unkindly about Alice. Her line is one of the few that shows two clients competing through you.
Some players suspect she is the runaway Princess Sophie. Fan wikis state outright that the theory is unconfirmed, so treat it as Community-observed; it may change with game updates.

FAQ
Is Adora the missing Princess Sophie? Nobody has confirmed it. Some players suspect it because she arrives right after Dorothy mentions the princess vanishing, but the fan wiki indexes call the theory unconfirmed. Write it off until a patch or a later card settles it.
Why does my Cheerful Frog fail when it looks perfect? Because the card caps Cute at 25. No floor is printed for Cute on that commission, so a charming, decorated green dress is exactly the wrong answer. Strip the cute scoring, keep the green at 60% or above, and resubmit.
Is Quality 95 on Crowning Glory actually doable? The community notes treat it as a late-game project, with the suggested rescue being to sell a near-miss dress, start over, and re-check her measurements. Build 403 fixed failed commissions not paying, so there is no partial credit for a 94.
How do I know when Adora shows up? She is the tenth and last client through the door, arriving after Dorothy mentions Princess Sophie. That ordering is Community-observed; it may change with game updates, and nothing in the shop announces her.
How much money do Adora's commissions pay? Thirteen thousand five hundred coins across seven cards, from Sporting Chance at 1000 to Crowning Glory at 5000, the richest line in the game. It arrives last, so budget the earlier clients without it.
