Lady Priya Summer is the third client through your door and one of the three funeral commissions, and the most expensive character in the game to serve badly. She brings nine orders, from a 300-coin all-black funeral gown to a 3,000-coin wedding dress, every one gated on Quality 75 to 80. Her signature demand is Romantic 60, printed on six of her nine cards, and her Fierce Funeral card carries the strictest colour rule in Dressmaker: Use only Black, no exceptions. She is also the hardest client to read, because the game never hands you a preference table. It fills five Personal style slots in her Sketchbook entry as you deliver, and the rest has to be inferred from her reactions.

Who Priya is and when she walks through the door
Priya is a Summer by blood and an artist by temperament. The old Duke, Duke Donovan Summer, is already dead when the game opens, and he is her uncle; the current Duke, Duke Hassan Summer, is her brother, the nephew who inherited everything. She is not there for the mourning. She is there because the funeral is the social event of the season and she means to spend all of it fending off her brother's horde of new suitors.
She arrives third, right after Prudence and after Rose's tutorial dress, and she is one of the three cards attached to the Duke's funeral. The full name Lady Priya Summer comes from community character indexes rather than the developer, because the official Steam achievement only prints her given name. Treat her card order as community-observed; it may change with game updates.

Those measurements matter. At 104 / 78.6 / 112.8 she is the largest of the five clients with public figures. Changing a client's measurements changes both the dress form and the flat pattern, so her pieces need more cloth than the bolt seems to promise, and a shortage on a 3,000-coin card is expensive.

Fierce Funeral: the all-black card that hides its own rule
The Duke's funeral is three separate, mutually exclusive commissions. All three demand Quality 75 on a 300 budget, and all three differ only in what they do with black. Prudence must avoid black entirely. Marie needs at least 50% black. Priya's Fierce Funeral is the only one that permits nothing else.
The difficulty is the sentence. Her request reads as a dress that is formal and gothic and must not be too colourful. On the card, not too colourful is implemented as 100% black, far stricter than the dialogue implies. Read the sentence instead of the card and you build a formal gothic gown with a hint of colour, and it comes back.
The dialogue says the dress must not be too colourful, and the card says Use only Black. Those are different requirements and only the card is scored. Build the whole garment in black fabric and check every trim and button for colour before you deliver, because a rejected commission pays nothing.
Velvet is the community answer. It carries Elegant and Glamour at once, covering two of the three tags her funeral card leans on, and a player posting their Fierce Funeral result said the velvet came out better than what they had first tried. That Reddit thread about her funeral dress is the most useful thing to read before you sit down with her first card.
Fierce Funeral is also the cheapest thing she ever asks for, and it arrives early enough that a botched attempt does not sink a run. Doing all three funeral cards unlocks Laid To Dress, held by 76.1% of players, the most common achievement in the game.
The two cards that can actually fail you
Almost every commission in Dressmaker is a floor card: more style points is better. Priya has one cap card and one that inverts the logic.
Maid of Honour is the cap. It wants a blue dress at 75% blue with at least three bows, and it fails above Playful 25. Bows drag Playful up fast, so the natural build overshoots the ceiling and the dress is rejected with everything looking correct. Add the bows last, check the reading after each, and stop while the needle is still in the yellow.
Potential Fratricide inverts the logic. Where Fierce Funeral demands one colour, this card demands at least three plus Warm 60, and it belongs to her search for her missing brother. A restrained black funeral build will not touch it, punishing players who found one velvet-and-lace formula and never varied it.
New Aesthetic is a third trap. Priya asks to be dressed like Vivian, and the card copies Vivian's first commission tags rather than describing anything new. The full client roster shows what each of the ten asks for.
The accessory and trim system opens after you deliver Prudence's funeral card, before Priya walks in, so you have every button, lace and pearl from her first order. Her storyline and what it sets up
Completing Priya's major commissions unlocks Drawn to Hue, which sat at 1.3% on the official achievements page on September 30, 2026, ninth of the ten client achievements and well behind Alice at 2.9%. Her order runs from the funeral through her brother's disappearance and into her own wedding.
She spends the funeral blocking her brother's suitors, then warns you to watch yourself around a certain lady in an unattractive hat. Minutes later that same lady interrupts Prudence mid-sentence with Duke Hassan. The gossip sheet Spilt Tea runs the funeral afterwards, reports that Priya's dress was too intimidating to approach, praises Marie's as tasteful, and records that Priya and Prudence very nearly came to blows. Two reviewers in a thousand-comment Steam sample single out the pairing, one thrilled at the sapphic representation with Priya and Prudence and another wishing Priya would count her days.
Two Steam reviews and a fan index all point the same way: no romance option has turned up with any of the ten clients. The achievement Don We Now Our Gay Apparel is an event achievement covering the three wedding outcomes, of which Sewn in the Stars is Priya's, not a romance path. The tension between Priya and Prudence is written and real, and it is not something you unlock by choosing dialogue options.
Two events put other clients inside her story.
